Agroclimatic requirements and adaptation potential to global warming of Spanish cultivars of sweet cherry (Prunus avium L.)

چکیده

Traditional fruit tree cultivars are an important source of agricultural biodiversity. These genotypes well adapted to the regions where they grow, and their fruits offer distinctive features compared commercial that frequently grown. We analyzed adaptation prospects seven sweet cherry grown in Zaragoza (Spain) future climate conditions. first delineated chilling forcing phases using Partial Least Squares (PLS) regression correlate phenology records with daily accumulations chill heat during months preceding flowering. then calculated requirements three models (Chilling Hours, Utah Dynamic) one model (Growing Degree GDH). Results indicated ranged between 26.1 60.2 CP (chill portions) from 5473 8030 GDH, respectively. assessed cultivars’ potential adapt a warmer projections comparing expected accumulation under two global warming scenarios, RCP4.5 (effective reduction greenhouse gas emissions) RCP8.5 (very high emissions), by time horizons, 2050 2085, temperature fifteen Global Climate Models (GCM). established has consistently decreased over last 30 years, but temperate trees have shown regular breaking dormancy, bud burst blooming. Future levels continue decreasing given sustained trend, so there is no guarantee sufficient winter will be observed medium long term if trend continues. For out we analyzed, most predict or low risks 2085 scenario. Under scenario, particularly end 21st century (i.e. 2085), four needs not meet very often.

Genetic Diversity and Relatedness of Sweet Cherry (Prunus Avium L.) Cultivars Based on Single Nucleotide Polymorphic Markers

Most previous studies on genetic fingerprinting and cultivar relatedness in sweet cherry were based on isoenzyme, RAPD, and simple sequence repeat (SSR) markers. This study was carried out to assess the utility of single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) markers generated from 3' untranslated regions (UTR) for genetic fingerprinting in sweet cherry. A total of 114 sweet cherry germplasm representin...

Ascorbic acid metabolism during sweet cherry (Prunus avium) fruit development

To elucidate metabolism of ascorbic acid (AsA) in sweet cherry fruit (Prunus avium 'Hongdeng'), we quantified AsA concentration, cloned sequences involved in AsA metabolism and investigated their mRNA expression levels, and determined the activity levels of selected enzymes during fruit development and maturation. We found that AsA concentration was highest at the petal-fall period (0 days afte...

PaCYP78A9, a Cytochrome P450, Regulates Fruit Size in Sweet Cherry (Prunus avium L.)

Sweet cherry (Prunus avium L.) is an important fruit crop in which fruit size is strongly associated with commercial value; few genes associated with fruit size have, however, been identified in sweet cherry. Members of the CYP78A subfamily, a group of important cytochrome P450s, have been found to be involved in controlling seed size and development in Arabidopsis thaliana, rice, soybean, and ...

Phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase in cherry (Prunus avium L.) fruit during development.

In this study the abundance and location of phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase (PEPCK) was determined in the flesh and skin of the sweet cherry (Prunus avium L.) cultivar Durone Nero II during development. PEPCK was not present in young fruit but appeared in both tissues as the fruit increased in size. In these there was no net dissimilation of malic acid, which accounts for the bulk of their or...
